3rd generation colt

relative newcomer to Colts.....is the major complaint of 3rd gen function or appearance?...found a NIB 3rd in 45lc that is as pretty as any Turnbull piece....incredible fit and finish.....$1200.00......I have become a little paranoid on 3rd generations.......my shooter is a new model Vaquero stainless...would like to put the Colt on the mantle..............opinions??? Thanks.........

That is a normal price for the Colt 3rd generation blued/CCH Single Action Army model.

I own and work on Colt SAAs and Bisleys, and it seems to me that the
major complaint regarding 3rd gen Colt SAAs is that they aren't first
or second gen Colts. OK, Colt did some redesigning of the ratchet and hand,
but, all things being equal, the only thing I can see that places them lower
in the eyes of some folks is snobbery. Buy that Colt, but don't expect it to become a $10,000 collectable in our lifetime. My advice: take it out and
shoot it, enjoy it, take care of it, and have as much fun with it as you
possibly can.
