Tumbler media

I have a large vibratory tumbler, 18" bowl. I have been using it for years both wet and dry for machined parts. Anyway I have cleaned it out and going to use it for cases. I stopped at the china depot (harbor freight) and picked up walnut shells. This is listed for blasting and tumbler. Is this the stuff you guys are using? Do I need to add any kind of a burnishing or cleaning detergent?

I like to add 1/2 cap full of Nu Finish car polish to every batch. It halps keep the dust down a little, will make the cases shinier and will keep the cases from tarnishing. You would probably want to add 1 cap full the first time. Also add a used dryer sheet or paper towel cut into four pieces and it will help keep the media clean.

Yep, same stuff I've been using for several years. It doesn't pack into the brass and you don't have to pick it out of flash holes. If for some reason I can't find the blast media, I get lizard litter at the pet store. It's the same stuff and buying it locally is cheaper than buying special brass media.
