Does anyone make a civilion version of the MP5?

I was looking at some 9mm carbines online, and then it occured to me, does anyone make a civilion version of the MP5? I know GSG makes a civilion version in 22lr but does anybody make one in 9mm?

I saw a guy picking up an MP5 at the shop a few months ago. He got in and got out though, so I couldn't get a good look at it. But they're definitely out there. His was a 9mm too. I did get that much.

You can buy a real H&K MP5 from your local class III dealer, but they cost a pretty penny, and you need to pay the $200 Federal Tax since it has the option to shoot fully-automatic, and fill out some special paperwork.

No, I'd just want a semi-automatic. Are there any American places that sell them?

The HK94 can still be found, but very expensive.

Todd Bailey makes them under various names (i.e. Special Weapons) but they aren't recommended. Do a search for him and you'll get some interesting information.

Bobcat Weaponry (?) makes clones, but I've no experience with them. Some have reported that its affiliated with Bailey, while others dispute this.

Ohio Rapid Fire was supposed to make a clone receiver so you could build one with a parts kit but it seems to be vaporware.

Um, isn't that the SP-89, from HK?

Widely available in the latter 1980s...as I recall.

The SP-89, was a shorter barreled version, much like a MP5K, but without the foregrip.

Most of the MP5 clones I've seen are lacking compared to the original, both in terms of reliability and finish.

Real ones are $$$, but they sure are fun...

Izhmash has a prototype 9x19 krink, called a "Knight"...

too bad they don't sell them here along with the other Saiga firearms. They'd probably sell quite well.

For 922r importation it would have to meet:
Full 16" barrel
10 round magazine
Thumb hole stock

Would be nice...

I had my 10/22 modded to look like an mp5. It's the closest i'll ever come to owning one as canadian laws suck ass. Still, I cant say enough good things about the company that did it for me, specterarms, they did a really awesome job of it. I'm quite pleased with the look of my 22
