I like the Streamlight Scorpion for the price but I have not handeld one. I have played with the Surefire 6 series and the grip on 6Z didn't sell me for the added price. I just want a bright light in a compact package.

I have owned and used both. If i had to choose one or the other, I would go with the
Streamlight. The Surefire is a very nice, small package. It also has a fine pure white beam. But the Streamlight has all of these features, plus it seems to hold up much better under hard use,and it is less expensive to start with.My Surefire would always seem to lose the bulb at the most inopportune times. The Streamlight has yet to let me down, even after I left it on the back of my vehicle and bounced it down the road at 15 or 20 miles an hour!

I have a Streamlight Scorpion , a Surefire 6P and M2 . The Surefires are built a lot better than the Streamlights and my 6P has quite a bit brighter beam . The 6P would be my pick . Good luck , Mike...

I have 2 surefires and are happy with them. They do all I expect them to do. However, they are not cheap!
Haven't really looked at the other so I can't comment on them. Are their batteries the same? The surefire has a rather expensive battery deal.

I also have a Scorpion. No complaints.

Both lights use the same batteries.

Surefire, all the way. Buy the batteries ten at a time so you get Radioshack's quantity discount. They have a ten year shelf life.

So where are the cheapest places to buy these lights? Also doesn't Streamlight make the m3 tactical lights for Glocks etc.? How do these compare to the ones from Surefire?

Cheapest place to buy Surefire lights is probably Botach (http://www.botachtactical.com). Customer service is spotty, however.

Place with decent prices and decent service is Lagger Professional (http://www.lagger-pro.com).

Also may want to try Brightguy (http://www.brightguy.com) and Maricopa Tactical (http://www.maricopatactical.com).

Not affiliated. HTH,
