How much does a Model 870P cost?
Thinking about buying a new one, but would like to know how much it may cost me.

$350 for a 870Police? Are you sure you're not talking about an 870 Express? I just picked up a new no-frills 870 Police Magnum, synthetic stock and forend, and rifle sights for $450 and thought I got a decent deal. Nothing special but I didn't get screwed either.

Sorry, I was thinking of the one I bought.
Apparently prices have gone up over the last few years. |

Bought mine for $325 at end 2001. To get to 450 in 3-4 years, your'e looking at about what, six-seven percent inflation?
If Police Models had gone up at the same rate as Express models, with $325 NIB price in 2002, they should be no more than $375 right now. I think that demand has outstripped supply. Today, I'd get me an Express...

One thing to keep in mind.
Remington Police guns get "scalped" by dealers a LOT. This is due to the Police model being a little more difficult for most dealers to get, and some of them take advantage. Often, a dealer won't discount one at all, charging full list price. My advise is, shop around and get some other dealer's to price one for you. The gun I bought in 2003 for $350.00 was discounted some by my local dealer. One option is to watch Shotgun News for wholesaler's who sell Police guns, and have a local dealer do an cost-plus order for you. That way, you KNOW what the actual "street price" is, and you can avoid being scalped. Like most things, you get a better deal when you know what the DEALER is paying for something. If he's paying $350 for a gun and charging you $500, you might go somewhere else. |

$449
For an 18" Police with rifle sights, 4-round mag, and walnut stock/forend. I would think the other "more frills" models would be even more expensive.

A couple of years ago I paid 425 for a new 870P, 20", rifle sights, extended tube, walnut stock, parkerized. I thought it was a very fair price.
