Hodgdon load data for 220 swift and 22-250
I was looking online at hodgdons reloading data for the 220 swift and the 22-250 and I was kind of surprised to see that the results of hodgdons testing was that these two cartridges were much closer in performance than was commonly believed. In many bullet weights the 22-250 either matches or outperforms the swift depending on powder choice.
I was always told at top loads the 22-250 will always be 100 fps slower than the swift. Current loading data is telling me otherwise. I have a chronograph and I can attest that the top velocities with the 35 and 40 gr bullets in the 22-250 are indeed achievable. Is this swift data watered down maybe? What do you guys think? |

I believe the data to be watered down. I have gotten velocities with the swift that the 22-250 can not. I have also noticed the same trend in factory ammo.
