brazosdave, you seem to have issues with the idea of hollowpoints for training.
Bear in mind the economics of bulk orders. I would bet that when ordering millions of rounds, the difference in price between FMJ and hollowpoints becomes negligible. A few years back, a friend of mine took up loading .45ACP, and the best deal he got for bullets was a several thousand round order of Speer GD230. Meanwhile, a class action suit is already in the works in NY. I just upgraded my Life Membership to Patron status at NRA, and bought a Life Membership in SAF last week. I would suggest others consider doing the same, or supporting whatever effective RKBA organization you like. For me, if stuck with a 7 round limit, I would normally go with a 1911 and GI type mags. Revolvers for me are more for the woods, or for the wife (who prefers them). But I would rather spend the money supporting legal actions against this monstrosity of a law, than retooling my magazine inventory. |

686+ will be the leading firearm for NY. I'm not kidding. I'm LEO and the new law does not allow LEO to have more then seven rounds. So yes revolvers and some single stack semi autos will reign supreme in NY.

They will, if the law withstands legal challenges that have already begun. If nothing else, I would anticipate a temporary injunction once pending challenges are filed.

As a resident of NY I must say that Cuomo's shenanigans make the Obama administration look like saints. and I consider the Obama administration to be a criminal enterprise.

This is a travesty to the people of New York. I say this with the utmost sincerity. Some of us outside are pulling for you, and have already contacted several on the local and federal level concerning these infringements. I pray that others will do the same. Now is not the time to bury your coconuts in the sand. The Ruger homepage makes it easy with an app that does most of the work for you. Here is a link. http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/

That's an easy workaround until we can get the law repealed - carry your 5-shot revolver... In .500 S&W...

They come in and out of fashion. I have been on a revolver kick for the last couple years. I have always had an appreciation for them but I have been buying a lot more lately. Right now its as hard to find revolvers as it is autos.

Massachusetts introduced a bill on Friday that includes a 7 round limit. Revolvers , small semi autos and the .45 acp will be the handguns in demand.

It has to pass first. Then be upheld by courts. Don't give up because someone introduced a bill.

>>The downside to NY, is that they will never stop there<<
You're right.... next they'll be restricting revolvers to 4 rounds.

I have revolvers, semi's, M1a... and I would actually recommend a revolver for a first time gun buyer (.38 special in a .357) and revolvers are on my wish list.
I don't think one would be under gunned, defensively with a revolver. Frankly if I was in combat, I would probably prefer a revolver as my side arm. Dear Santa, I would like a .45 single action, a .44 mag long barrel with a scope mount, a Judge or Governor would be fun..... I will be glad when the hysteria is over... Yea, revolvers are cool. |

This is a 44magnum, it has only 6 shot's.
Not the 7 shot law, I have a few high caps including a few 8 shot .357s. In all actual reality, how many shots would you need in most cases of SD? Answer: 6 for 6 BGs. LOL I like to share, one for for each. Last edited by Redhawk5.5+P+; January 20, 2013 at 04:12 AM. |
