Type 53 - There are many others, but this one is mine...

1953.11 dated with excellent bore.
I have owned 3 M-44's, Two hex receivers, and one Finnish m-39.

This Chinese version has the slickest bolt of all of them. Shoots to just above point of aim at 50 yards. (I did not feel like walking to the 100 yrd line)

there's a chinese 53 at my LGS right now, been there for months... priced way too high to sell. the stock is rotten, no two parts have a matching serial number and by golly it is the closest thing to a mosin with a smooth bolt I have yet to lay hands on. I have no plans to pick it up though... just got rid of one mosin, I don't need to bring another one home.

congrats on yours.

Nice!

All the type 53s I've seen have been in sorry shape. Sure long for the days when almost "brand new" Russian M44s could be had for under 100 dollars!

Agreed. Out of all the Mosins I have the 53 has the best bolt, best bore, and shoots the tightest groups. The stock is BUTT UGLY, and one day I plan to do something about it.
