.22 LR Makarov Conversion (NITI) Bulgaria DUNAV

I did a complete strip of the slide of this conversion kit to clean the firing pin, channel, ejector, etc... There are 2 small screws in the top of the slide that hold in place the "block" within the slide that contains the breech face, firing pin, extractor. Upon reassembly, and I spent hours, for the life of me I can not get the slide reassembled. The 2 small screws do screw in fine, but when I put it back onto the pistol frame, everything jams up. Am I missing something here? Is there a trick?
