proper way for breaking in an AR-15

Is there a proper way to break in an AR? I just picked up a custom build from my gun shop that the owner made for a gun show and I would like to find out how to break it in, and make sure that there is not some way for me to jack up the barrel.

If it makes a difference, it is a JP Cryo treated stainless supermatch barrel...

also, I believe that it is chambered in .223 so this means i cannot use 5.56 correct?

don't use 5.56 ammunition in a gun chambered for .223 because of higher pressures of the 5.56. But you can use .223 ammunition in a gun chambered for 5.56 There is a difference of about 10,000 CUP between these cartridges.

Your JP barrel is a premium barrel and it should shoot great from the beginning. Do not use abrasives to clean it.

High quality Match barrels have already been lapped to an ultra-smooth finish.

However you feel about the benefits or lack of of breaking in a barrel, it's of no value to a high quality Match barrel.

No need to over think this. I'd just make sure it's cleaned up, lightly lubed in the right places & have at it. Don't over heat it while shooting. Become familiar with taking it apart if your not already.
