Boberg Arms New Pistol

Boberg Arms now has there XR9-L pisols available. It looks pretty neat, but I really don't need a non pocket size 9mm that only holds 8 rounds. It does boast a recoil reduction feature that make felt recoil on par with a 22 lr. Thats interesting. I would be more interested if they came out with a double stack model, but that would require a lot of additional work. If someone out there is looking for a single stack 9mm, this might be the one for you though.

Had mine for about 5 months, it's absolutely the best gun I've purchased in the last 20 years. I'm pretty picky, this thing is simply a work of art that performs beyond expectations.

Onyx and Platinum are $1349 and the Two Tone is $995, but I cannot figure out why the price is $354 more for the Onyx and Platinum. What m I missing? Thanks.

Harder finish to apply? If you email the owner, he will probably tell you. The platnum has something similar to a np3 coating. The two tone is plain stainless and aluminum. I dont remember what goes into the onyx.

Rembrandt, One review of the X9R-S indicated that it had trouble feeding and ejecting a couple brands of cartridges. Has your Boberg had any issues such as this (from your post I would think not, but I do want to ask)? Thanks.

I thought it was interesting till I saw that price! Still, its a
pretty good looking pocket rocket...I wish spending that
kind of money on a CCW was an option for me.

I really like the Boberg pocket 9mm, but I don't get it with this larger gun. Low capacity, bigger......what's the point? It's just not on my radar as far as anything I need, want or desire.

Perhaps to offer something a bit larger that can accept a laser or light?

Suppose it was inevitable that as the guns size increased it would be compared to double stackers. A single stack makes sense for the pocket sized version. I know they are working towards a .45 ACP version down the road.....which has my interest.

While they haven't been out that long, it will take years of R&D to meet features on every ones wish list. I think the biggest advancement is the way the gun sits in the web of the hand combined with the barrel sitting further back to reduce recoil.

I have two carry guns - Ruger LC9 and STI LS 40. They both fill a niche. the LC9 will fit in most of my pockets. The LS40 actually will fit in some pockets, but is really a bit too heavy for that. Still, if I am going somewhere where I want the comfort of having a more powerful gun, I will choose the LS40.

The little Boberg is something I would really like - a high quality 9mm that is a tad smaller than the LC9. It would basically replace my LC9 (although I wouldn't get rid of the LC9, because it has proven to be very rugged and reliable...and relatively inexpensive) The bigger Boberg offers a lot less than what I already have. Bigger, bulkier, low capacity and still in 9mm. There's just no gain with the bigger Boberg.

Only real objection I have about it is the price. I have an S&W 6906 and an Astra A-75, small enough, and both of them together cost less than this gun does.

The "big" Boberg makes no sense to me, it's similar in size to a G29/G30, and twice the price. They advertise how much more powerful it is compared to a P226 Sig.

Howsabout a 45 ACP or a hot 10mm at half the price?

Or maybe a smaller P229 chambered in 357--which will smoke most 9mm loads.

If you're a price shopper focused on the cost, this is not the gun for you......if features, benefits, quality, fit, and finish are more important, you'll love this gun.

The "big" Boberg makes no sense to me, it's similar in size to a G29/G30, and twice the price.

I think it would make a lot more sense after a careful comparison.

Clearly it is not "similar" in size to the Glock 29/30. It's 6 oz lighter over an inch shorter in length, shorter in height and thinner than the Glock 29/30.

In fact, it's smaller and lighter than anything Glock makes.

The "big" Boberg, is significantly lighter and smaller in every dimension (other than height where it's three hundredths of an inch taller) than the Glock 26 which is the smallest, lightest pistol Glock makes.

In spite of that, it has a barrel that is 0.78" longer than the Glock 26--longer even than the barrel of the Glock 19.

I'm not going to rush right out and buy one, but it certainly would appear that it does what it says it does. It packs a full-length barrel into a package smaller than other gun makers categorize as "subcompact". That makes sense as far as I can see.

I'd like to fool around with one for a while. It appears to be unique and would be interesting to mess with.

If it were to become a daily carry item for the boots and jeans crowd like me, something like a hard shell custom Kydex IWB system would be needed. Since there doesn't seem to be much left from the trigger guard fwd, probabally a severe fwd rake could provide the adhesion. Thats just a bump in the road and no problem.

For the moment, it doesn't seem to be able to do anything that can't be done by a Kahr.

Maybe someday.
