Recipe for .223 55 gr. FMJ

I purchased some 55 gr FMJ from Everglades, but upon weighing the bullets, they are actually 53.6 grains. I've been loading Hornady FMJ-BT 55 gr (followed recipe on Hornady manual). My questions is, should I follow a recipe for 55 gr of 52 gr? Next question, does anyone have a recipe to these Everglades "55 gr" FMJ bullets? Lyman manual has info for jacketed SPT-would that be OK to use?

In aircraft performance charts we use "interpolation" to calculate appropriate performance data. Calculate the percentage difference in the bullet weight, then apply that to the powder charge, and you will get the appropriate amount of powder.

Hello,

I have been using the Everglades 55gr bullets also. I have found that 27.0 gr of CFE223, a CCI450 primer and LC brass is a good combo. This load gives me 3230 fps from the 24" barrel of my DPMS varmint AR.

I have also tried these bullets with 24.5gr of H335 and CCI450 primers in my 16" Ruger SR556E. They work well also.

The Everglades bullets are not precision bullets, but they are cheap and work great for prairie dogs and plinking.

Have fun.
