I have a new Remington 870 synthetic stock which I would like to round the top of the recoil pad. How is that best accomplished by an amateur?

Thanks,
John

Veeery Carefully. But, that applies to experienced gunsmiths as well as a novice. Decide exactly what line you want to change and mark it if possible. If you want to leave the pad on the stock while you do this, wrap masking tape around the wood to protect against slips. Cut some strips of medium grit sandpaper and use sort of a shoeshine motion on the area concerned. George
