Cabelas offers three sizes of balls for there Rem. 1858. Do you need to bring the cylinder in to be fitted. Ken

Most folks do use the .454 balls in their Uberti brand 1858 Remington.

For the record, this same revolver with .454 inch balls, over 30 grs. of FFFG black powder, and a wool felt wad greased with Gatofeo No. 1 Bullet Lubricant will sometimes put all six balls into a 1" group.

And here's a report that the Uberti factory Remington nipples like the Remington #10 cap:

Mine's the same except blued. Love the gun. It feels good and shoots well. I've had no problems with it at all. The only minor problem is fitting caps to the stock nipples. CCI #10 are too small, CCI #11 to large (must pinch), but Remington #10 are perfect.
