Rangefinder recommendations

I hunt deer in Michigan in places where the maximum shot I will ever take is 300 yards or less...more often than not within 100 yards. Later in the season, I am going to be hunting in some new areas this year where I won't be able to do a lot of advanced scouting to orient myself on distances, terrain, etc. I am thinking about picking up a rangefinder to pick up terrain angles and distances. This is new technology for me and wondered if you had any recommendations in the price range of, say, $350 or less. I don't need the absolute expensive best, but I also don't want to pick up a piece of junk, either.

If you buy one made for hunting, you are going to pay anywhere from $150.00 to $250.00 for a good one. If you are not going to use it quite a bit, I have found that the ones made for golfers work just as well, and can be had for $20.00 and up.
I use mine for bow hunting, and scope out the yardage when I first get into my stand, so I don't have to wait for a deer to show up before scoping the distance.

If you have game within 100 yards, you will find them hard to use without any movement, but for longer shots you might have time to get a reading before your game disappears.

I have two that work very well:

a Bushnell yardage pro 450 that cost about $130 a few years ago and a leupold RXII that was $300. Both are good examples of the value for the dollar in rangefinders.

I second the yardage pre but would suggest the 800.
