Barrel heat
I shot around 100 rounds max load 55 gr fmj 28.5 gr 844 powder WSR primers. [this load is published in TM 43-0001-27] The barrel got very hot and stayed hot after each 10 rounds or so. When I worked up this load, I shot as many rounds as today, but did not have a heat issue. Today with the hot barrel, accuracy was off. Once it cooled, and I cleaned the barrel to kill time, it was accurate again until it got hot again.
So can I assume this load is causing the heat?

Not enough info for a good answer, BUT yes. Your load caused heat. Wether it is a shotgun, pistol or rifle you are going to get heat. Ambient temp is a big factor and rate of fire is a biggy. The volumn of powder is a huge factor.
