Gunwebsites has a video of the thing jamming with lots of different mags. No matter how inexpensive it is, it still seems like a waste of money that could be better spent on a known reliable .22lr pistol.

The whole thing boggles the mind . It's sort of like Ferrari deciding to re-tool the factory to make Smart Cars .

Coke and Ford both managed to stay in business, we'll see about USFA.

zip
I bought one in Jan for $200. It jams with any mags I tried but the Ruger rotary. I had to pry the mag. back out after shooting.
Zip has released a repair kit to address the problem. I was notified it was shipped but have not received it yet. It is a novelty with no specific purpose I can see except to emulate a video game gun. But I think it has possibilities. |

I also own the ZiP™ aka, penis pistol for months and have shot it. Yes it jams, yes it has FTF's, yes it is picky with hi-cap mags, and yes its broken. Doug ( the maker of the gun ) sent an E-mail stating low grade or bulk ammo was not to be used only one or two high grade bullet makes like CCI mini mags to be put in the pistol well ZiP guns still had issues next he blamed the barrel nut, he farted out his mouth, "its the problem!" and gave detailed directions how to fix it. No go for all ZiP owners again so he realised a magic fix it kit and swears up and down it'll make and ZiP spit lead. We'll see after I install it and make another video.

Sounds to me like it's going to be good for a class action law suite if the Manufacturer continues ignoring possible problems and tries to keep on blaming bad ammo.
It's a cheap gun, many people who buy cheap guns also will buy cheap ammo to feed them. Hence there may be a greater number who will see the same kinds of dangerous malfunctions and hasten the legal action once the lawyers get wind of it.

i mean who doesn't buy huge bulk ammo for .22s? I have some guns that take premium .22 ammo but that's near the price of cheap 9mm per 50. ill take 1k for 40 bucks thank you very much. I expect any .22 I own to function with whatever bulk I have on hand.
Every time i see manufacturers saying it needs CCI minimags to run is just code for we didn't do a good job designing the thing.

What a POS! I wouldn't buy one if they were perfectly reliable. Ugly as heck and the "grip" doesn't exist.

I am up for new and innovative.
It already have bought a Rhino if the darn thing had been made by a better manufacturer. I know that sounds funny but the only model of the Rhino that seems to be problem free is the 2" DAO model called the 200D. That doesn't mean the DS models are all bad, just that they all have several guns in their model range with reported issues. I would love to see the same concepts taken to a semiauto and I have tried to figure out just how you would pull it off and the only thing that comes to mind is the top mounted magazine designs similar to the FN PS-90. It's either that or mount the mag forward like the old Mausers. Perhaps a rotary mag like Ruger's 10/22 would do the trick The other problem is when you drop the slide (in line with the barrel), to bring it in-line with the wrist you no longer can have that slide moving back and forth to cycle the action. Maybe "fix" the slide to the frame and cycle the barrel and receiver forward ? Problem is, I have no trouble imagining the barrel and all moving forward with the shot, it's what you have to do to get the next round stripped from the mag and chambered that boggles a bit unless you fix the mag to the receiver. But that makes for much more mass having to be cycled/moved by the recoil/gas mechanism.
