RD Mould Range Report

35 Remington and 45-70 had a good day @ the range today, 460-350 loads are the first I've tried with this boolit, 359-190 wouldn't stay on an 8.5X11 target @ 50 yds before heat treating.

Second 35 Rem target was a bit odd, same point of impact for both 50 and 100 yds. Odd.

Bad News

One rifle didn't do so hot. No biggie, first time out. New-to-me 94 in 32 WS was pretty miserable, actually. Couldn't find the first few rounds @ 50! Finally walked it in but best I could do with the buckhorn sights was +/- 6" high, 4" left. Had to aim @ lower rt corner of target to "center" last three rounds. If you'll look closely these boolits are so happy they're wagging their tails.
Load was a Ranch Dog 323-171 GC, heat treated, 27.0 RL7, 210M, 2.435 COAL.
I put a receiver sight on it before supper, not sure what to do to stabilize the "happy" boolits.
Tomorrow's another day....at the range!

Hey Tex, I have a late forties 94 32 WS and have tried the lovern design the lee 8mm and the RD and all grouped pretty well. I have to do 50yd groups but all were around 2"....or so...they all run up against the lands when loaded to the base of the neck and I was using 4198 and wheel weights.

I'm looking @ 4198 for the 32, thinking about 27 grs. We'll see.

'Nuther range report

Got a hunting load for Thumper! Hornsurgeon's (CB board) RL7 load did nicely again last night. Was getting a little late and was a bit tired of shooting but fired 10 quick ones anyway. Youngster shooting with his family on the next bench really enjoyed the fireballs @ sunset. The high hit was a called flier, guy on the other end of the bench touched one off @ the wrong millisecond. I picked up a flinch and was pretty sure I tossed 3 but only two were out much. 7 out of 10 well inside 2" is as good as I was going to shoot yesterday; this load's going hunting! .35 and .32 loads are getting close, peep helped on the 32 but it's still pretty awful. May be able to load up some suitable .35 loads before my next hunting trip. These RD boolits like to go fast, just need to pour it on and let'em rip. 32 and 35 loads are a bit conservative, will step them up and slip on the wimp pad.
All three rifles cleaned up nicely. I think I like these Ranch Dog GC boolits.

Found a 32 WS load!

Finally found a load the 32 WS likes for the RD boolit, it's plenty warm but I've learned RD's boolits like to go fast. First three rounds @ 50 were pretty exciting, kept it together for the 4th but blew the 5th. Max load of 37 was too hot, vertical 3" string. Loaded up 36.3, 36.5, 36.7 to confirm and explore a bit more, also wanted to try a 748 load that should have worked but didn't. Gotta unload firewood and round up hunting gear for a year-end trip in the morning, sure would like to slip out to the range later. This new-to-me 94 wears a receiver peep sight and 1" @ 50 is about as well as I can shoot with that setup.
