Broken/stuck .44 mag case in lever action

Help I have a case that broke in 1/2 in my LSI puma .44! I was shooting my rifle today and after ~a box of 240gr RN/FP .44 mags I couldnt open up my rifle easily with the lever. I grabbed the lever and gave it one good pull and out popped 1/2 of the case (rimmed end) the other 1/2 of the case is stuck to the chamber walls!

Once back from the range, I tried a dowl sanded just tight enough to fit down the muzzle...but it didnt catch the leading edge of the case! Any ideas?

Kroil or another penetrating oil, let sit overnight. Should come out with a brush after that.

Problem solved! I made a fish hook on the end of an old brass rod. I caught the edge of the case and it popped out!

Well Done. Nice, creative thinking. Now send yourself a bill for services rendered. Was this ammo factory loads or reloads? Old, much reloaded cases? Hot loads? Have you tried cleaning the chamber very thoroughly? Just wondering why the front portion of case stuck in chamber so strongly and tore in half.

most of the time a split case in the chamber can be removed without any problems with a one size larger bore (brass) cleaning brush.

Case separation is almost always a sign of excessive headspace. I strongly suggest having the headspace checked before firing the rifle again.

It was a VERY lightly loaded (1040fps out of a 6" barrel) 240gr SWC reload.

I will be calling LSI today and get seeing if they want to check the rifle out!
