Beretta px4 storm .40 subcompact
I currently have a Ruger LCR .357 and want to get a semi automatic handgun. I have a chance to pick up the .40 for under $400 brand new. Is this going to fit want I want as a carry and a range gun or am I better off waiting for a 9mm full size handgun? Thank you for your input and advice.

Just my opinion, I prefer nothing smaller than a "compact" to be
a "range gun". The PX4 compact series is a great choice, for range and carry. I carry a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 compact, love the gun and find it very accurate for me. Just another idea, and there are many good choices out there as you know. regards, SN |

Be aware of two things in this transaction:
(1) A lot of people find .40 to have the most noticeable recoil among the major calibers. Shooting a 9 mm and a .40 from the same subcompact is likely to feel a bit different to you. (2) The subcompact member of the PX4 lineup does not have a rotating barrel as do the compact and full-sized. The rotating barrel softens the recoil quite noticeably. Ultimately it is your choice. Just be sure you know what you are buying. |
