Nosler Penetration?
I've loaded the 139gr Hornady Interbond for years out of my 7 mag. At about 3200fps I got exit holes on mule deer at ranges from 50yds to 320yds. This combo only exited 1 bull elk, the rest usually placed the mushroomed bullet under the hide on the off side. This combo was perfect for deer and elk both. Now for the down side - the best it will group is 1 3/4" @ 100yds. With the 140gr Nosler Accubond I get 1/2" @ 100yds. Does anyone have any personal experience with .284 Accubonds on elk or large deer. I will, of course, test them this fall on game, but I would love to hear any of your experiences w/ this combo. Thanks, Brett

Both of the new bonded core bullets have been out there long enough to know what to expect from them. Your experience with the interbond is what most are finding, it does not penetrate as well as the nosler accu-bond.
If what you want is pass-thru with enough expansion to cause massive trauma, then the accu-bond will do that for you. That is just hearsay though, after reading countless posts on various forums. I did do some expansion tests with both bullets, my results show the accu-bond does not expand to as large a frontal area as the interbond. But the interbond will retain more weight. I have pics available if you want to see the difference. I do have a bunch of personal experience with the interbond, both in 7mm and .308. It's my bullet of preference for 7-08, .280, 7mm mag, .308, 30-06, and 300 WSM. BUT I do not hunt large whitetails, the Wisconsin deer don't live long enough to GET big! If I live long enough AND win the lottery, I will get to hunt elk someday!
