MP-7 Cleaner

So i just was scrubbing the ole AR down and I was using some MP-7 cleaner that i picked up ( i like that it's "environmentally friendly", being a botanist and all). It seems to work ok but my AR wasnt overly dirty to begin with. Do you guys use this stuff or whats the general feeling on this stuff? Anything better than it? I also have hoppes on hand but I couldnt stand that radioactive banana smell tonight. On the same note, what kind of lube you guys recommend? Ive been using Rem Oil w/ teflon. Thanks

I've been using MPro7 for awhile now and I'm very pleased with it and it's bore cleaner.

I use M-Pro 7 for general gun cleaning. Nothing else in pistols, as a followup to Windex for black powder, and before the CR-10 on rifles. Low odor, non-flammable, good cleaning. It will give you dishpan hands, though.

As the one champion IPSC shooter said, I lube with whatever was in the free goodie bag at the last match. FP10, Militech, Breakfree, Snake Oil, etc., etc. I still have part of a can of some old military Weapons Oil, Light that predates CLP and even LSA but does about as well as anything. And will try Mobil 1, a friend gave me a can with an ounce or two after changing the oil in his truck.

That works for me. I was just wondering if there is something better. Ill stick to the MP-7 Thanks guys

It works good for me, and it doesn't smell up the kitchen.

+1 for any of the MPro products. This stuff is great! No odor and more effective IMHO than my solvent based cleaners.

MP-7 is awesome. My pd uses it on everything. Try putting it in a plastic container and microwaving it for about a min. Then throw your slide or small metal parts in and bada-bing wipe them off.

1. No real smell...good.
2. less effective in removing copper than sweets or equiv...bad....
3. less harmful to finishes than toxic solvents...good...
4. harmful to some plastics depsite what they say...bad

I like to use the gel at the range when bbls be warm, then go home to use copper solvent. being as I am a disgusting gun slob anyway, a bottle of any solvent lasts forever.

this doesnt have to do with MP-7 gun cleaner really but the first post about the radioactive banana smell of Hoppes got me thinking. So while I was cleaning my gun tonight it finally hit me what Hoppes smells like to me...circus peanuts

So what kind of plastics is it harmful to? The only kind that I would worry about are my glock and springfield armory xd.... gonna hurt them?

And it does smell like a radioactive banana!!! I think we should vote on that one.

M-pro7 is great stuff. Use it if you shoot corrosive ammo. It keeps your barrel from rusting. I use KG oil for a lube. It seems to stay put and stays slippery longer than anything else I have used.
