Mag extension for 870

Hi,

the best stuff for 870 is Scattergun Tech, a Wilson Combat owned company. They are on the Internet. $30 to $45 the kit includes their superior magazine spring.

The best mag extension that you can buy is the factory Remington one. Those can be had from Brownell's or from the trading spots on several forums. Wilson and Vang Comp make a good unit too and they can probably be had for a little less cheese:

Brownell's carry most brands of extensions:

I think the "best buy" for quality and price is the Choate.
It comes as a complete kit, including a heavy-duty follower, the all important barrel clamp, and a front sling swivel.

+1 for the remington piece. They designed the gun it makes sense that they desinged the extension properly also. They have all the bases covered to include a mag clamp that's designed to not walk to the end of the barrel under recoil by interlocking the cross screw in the clamp into a groove in the mag tube.

Flip.

I bought a used Choate for my 870 recently. It appears to be quality. I didn't get the follower though. Guess I'll need to use the original. The clamp definitely makes the extension more stable and secure. And the sling swivel is gravy.

Buy that non-binding magazine follower. The original may stick at the threads. Remember Mom - you could poke your eye out

Good Luck & Be Safe out there.

Dang, Dfariswheel, you and I seem to see eye to eye on a lot of stuff.

Thanks for the advice Bob. I just ordered one and an extra spring. I still came out ahead on the deal even if I have to touch up the bluing on the tube.
