Rock Island Armory 1911 9mm 1st Trip Out

I picked up a Rock Island 1911 9mm a week ago at the gun show. Surprisingly I was able to find 300 rounds of 9mm at a combination of local stores that didn't break the bank.

The weather was nice enough today to get out to the range. Unfortunately the closest I can set a target at this range is 15 yards which is further than I like to shoot a handgun but beggars can't be choosers. I shot about 60 rounds or so using Blazer Aluminum TMJ. I have never had any issues with this ammo and today was no different.

I absolutely love the 1911 platform and this gun is no different. I had been wanting a 1911 in 9mm for some time and this one delivers. Just over $400 and it feeds flawlessly and like all other 1911's I have shot, this shoots where you point it with minimal recoil. I would have liked to stay longer and put a couple hundred rounds through it, but in today's times, one must be conservative with what little ammo is out there.

Good for you!
Enjoy your new pistol. RIAs' are great value for the money.
I really need to get another 9mm 1911. Lots of fun to shoot.

Wish Rock Island or ATI would offer a 1911 in .40.

The company I've found with a .40 1911 is STI and
it wasn't as cost competitive as these two brands.

Para makes one too but it's not competitve either
and their reputation leaves something to be desired.

All the Best,
D. White
