S&W Ctg Manufacture Date?

I recently purchased a S&W .38 Special Ctg and was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the date it was manufactured and maybe it's value. The serial # is 2d30XXX and it has a 6 inch barrel.

serial numbers 2D00001 - 2D80000 were made in 1977.

these s/n were for S&W models 10,12, 13, 45, 64, 65, and 547

.38 special cartridge refers to the caliber of bullet that your gun will shoot.

the model may be stamped inside of the yoke, when you open the cylender and swing it out.
