SIG P238 / Kimber 380?

A comment in this thread mentions that the trigger pull on the P238 is 8 pounds. By this time most people are aware that the P238 and the new Kimber 380 are copies of the Colt Mustang, which in turn was derived from the Spanish Star Model D. But the P238 and the new Kimber 380 have a removable mainspring housing, where the Colt does not. It would seem that this would make it far easier to remove the mainspring and clip a couple of coils to reduce trigger pull.

Has anyone tuned the trigger on a Mustang, P238 or Kimber 380? How did you approach it, and what did you get for a trigger pull?

I'm curious about this as well. I wonder the makers deliberately set the poundage high since there is no grip safety on these guns and since they might be pocket carried.

The reason i am afraid to buy used firearms is because of guy's watching youtube and thinking that they are gunsmiths.

It's seldom necessary to reduce mainspring tension on single action guns. Proper stoning of the sear engagement surfaces will usually suffice.

Trigger Pull

I have both the Kimber Micro CDP and two Sig P238's.
I see no reason to alter either one, they both feel "right" to me.

Hasn't ANYONE who owns a P238 or a Kimber Micro actually measured the trigger pull?

Proscene is correct, there is no reason to clip coils as that is a certain way to make these reliable little pistols fail you when needed most. This is a defensive pistol and should not have a match target trigger pull. Do some drills where you are drawing, moving and firing, the trigger pull will then seem as smooth as butter.
