Mosin-Nagant & Cosmoline

I hear/read alot about the stiff bolt problems with cosmoline & heat often being the problem.

Rather than do the electric drill/wire brush with polishing compounds and harsh chemicals, I just took it apart, clamped it in a wooden vice outside and hosed it down really good with spray brake cleaner. Appears to be very clean so I soaked it good with Break-Free, wiped it down about three times, swabed and oiled the barrel good and put it away.

This seems way too easy compared to the other methods I read about. What did I do wrong?

Anyone use this method? Did I really get it clean or is there residue I can't see? Was this a bad idea???

The drill/brush is just for the chamber...

You used brake cleaner, I used hot water and denatured alcohol...
