Primer Availability
So, been looking on AmmoSeek at components. Looks like we are back in a primer drought. Anyone knows what gives?

LRPs specifically. Was seeing CCI and Remington in stock for a while. Now only a couple places with Ginex.

I'm actually thinking of selecting only small primer cartridges from now on--I suspect that LRPs will never again be available in meaningful quantity in my lifetime.

Servicio brand from Argentina is pretty good too. $65 per k last time I checked.
Conserve and improvise, and ready to pay more too. -TL Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

A couple weeks ago, Natchez was well stocked and had free hazmat. I got lucky that the powder I needed was also in stock and bullets as well. Powder, primers and bullets were all on sale. I only had to pay standard shipping. They have primers in stock now, but the prices have gone up considerably from just 2 weeks ago (about 15%).

Brownells claims to have some, but I've noticed their online labeling can be misleading, so I would call them and ask. 800-741-0015, 9 am to 6 pm CST.

IME, Ammoseek doesn’t find much. DuckDuckGo is beating it now.

I found Winchester LRPs at Outdoor Unlimited. Came up in AmmoSeek. Got 2 bricks. They are an hour up the road and could have saved money, but hard to get out for that long.

blurb
I watched a video produced by a fellow that claimed he interviewed primer mfgs's who agreed to speak off the record. The interviewer states common themes:
-military and LE contracts first for loaded ammo -loaded sporting ammo next -component primers for reloading last priority There is also a common reference to lack of raw materials in general. When available, they produce 24/7 |

Pretty good price indeed. I may want to buy 5k ginex SPP to replenish my inventory.
The OP was looking for LRP. He is right that the price has gone way up lately. It was SPP a few months back now it is LRP. Good that I still have enough stash to draw on. I have gone into conservation mode like during the Obama administration. 20 rounds per range trip. 3-shot groups for load development. Damn the statistical certainty of 10-shot groups. It is luxury I can't afford. -TL Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

I didn't click to see what else is available but SPP are $80.00 per 1000.

Somehow my 30K SPP & LPP order in '09 seems downright prescient. Wish I invested my money as well as I did in primers.
