ruger mkII 6.5x55

finally shot my hand loads all i could find was 129gr. sst. good bullet but was looking for 140gr. without ordering online. yeah couldnt wait. scope was bushnell 3200 3x9-40. 47.5 gr. of h4831. 1 gr. below max from hodgdens website. good groups yes. 3 shot group.2 touching 1 .25" off the main group.
its all under an inch. but every time i got to that 3rd shot it always went to the the left. will getting rid of the pressure point get every thing going to the same spot?

will not do any thing till i get the 140gr. bullets and try them but i think this will not clear it up.

Not enough information. I'd bet that you're talking about a Ruger Model 77 Mark II, not what we call the Mark II, which is a rimfire pistol. Assuming that, is that the heavy-barreled target model of the Ruger 77?

If so, there are a number of factors that might contribute to that third shot opening the group. Wind, barrel heating, bedding, technique, all of those play a part. What are you doing differently on the third shot? How has that load performed in the past? What's your barrel twist? Maybe that rifle doesn't like 129 grain SST bullets?

However, if you're getting three inside an inch at 100 yards, that seems like a good place to start.

My best groups in several re-barreled swede mauser sporters and also in a Sako 75 were as follows:

Nosler 120 gr BT seated into or just off the lands,
46 gr H4350, (46.5 for the Sako)
CCI200 primer,
Lapua or Normal brass

I trickle-charge and neck-resize when I want the best groups.

I do think H4350 is the best powder for the 6.5x55.
