How Much to Expect For My Used PF-9
I cannot carry my Kel-Tec PF-9 in the "Guns-Kill-People" state of Illinois. I've enjoyed owning it but need to get practical. It's ideal for CC but no joy to shoot for extended range visits. I'm looking into a full size 9MM but feel I need to sell the PF-9 to offset the new expense. It's in good shape w/ 2 mags w/ Pierce extensions. What do you think would be a fair price? I appreciate you input.

PF-9
Hello,
Here in the great Northeast the PF-9 goes $289 new. Would expect you would get $175 towards trade. Might be better to just keep it for a compact duty piece and save towards the bigger gun. For the initial price and low trade back $$ KelTecs are just keepers to me.......... good luck! |

Yeah at a fair dealer, you should get from $175-200. That would probably be all that they could give you so that he could still sell it for a profit...

Why not keep the little jewel as a nightstand gun, and if Illinois ever changes their minds you have something that is very familiar to you. I did just that with my KelTec P11 when I replaced it with the PF-9.

I've got my 21SF w/13 rounds of 230gr. Federal HST's sleeping in my nightstand. As far as the laws go I'm not holding my breath. I hope in my lifetime I will be able to carry but things don't always work out here with IL politicians in charge.

If a PF-9 is going for $290 new (as stated above), and a dealer has to sell it for less as used and still make a profit, I'm thinking one might see $150 for one, probably towards more on a trade and less on an outright sale for cash. Selling to a private owner will be the best result. At those prices I'd keep it.

When I sold mine, it was like new with 50 rounds fired through it. The local shops said they'd give me anywhere between $125-$175 and that was with a new High-Noon IWB holster and a spare mag. I ended up selling it privately for $250 with the holster, spare mag and a box of Hornady's.

Hoyt looks like you did well, the mag is like $30 around here, you sweetened the deal good.

Check out the TFL trading pages and see if someone will trade you a full size 9mm for that little KelTec.
Someone might be close to you that can trade you close to even for that gun. You just have to post the info. Obviously.provided it is legal for you to trade guns where you live. Heck,I'd keep it if it were me. Nothing like a boomstick when strange noises happen outside your front door. Even a KelTec boomstick. |

I appreciate everyone's input. Sorry to bring this to the table late but I have a few extras too. Additional magazine (2 total), Factory grip extensions for both, Pierce grip extensions for both (love that little extra bit to support pinky), Hogue Handall grip sleeve. Hope to find the little guy a happy home.
