Model 41

I have a S&W model 41 that after 1 or 2 somtimes 3 clips fired , the clip will just fall out then it won't stay in. I had a local smith look at it and he said he just cleaned it real good and should be ok ran 2 clips through it and the same problem again, any suggestion short of sending it to S&W

You might have to recut the mag catch, but first try increasing the spring tension. With the grips off and the magazine out, use a small punch to push in on the little retainer above the magazine catch button (left side). Turn the button itself clockwise a turn at a time until the magazine won't release. Then back it off until the magazine releases.

Are you using Model 41 specific mags, or the newer S&W generic .22 mags? IIRC, the newer mags have a longer mag release cut. My buddy's 622 mags work fine in my 41 but not vice versa.
