Of course I don't have a need for one, but I have always been curious as to how I would handle one. I live in Alabama, and while I have shot rifles, shotguns, and pistols before, I have never even seen someone fire a full-auto anything.

Yes.

If your in a state that allows it you can pay the fees and fill out all the forms and jump through all the hoops and break all the red tape...
Then you can have your full auto weapon.

I suggest talking to your Sheriff.

I wouldn't start with the sheriff. Find a class 3 dealer or owner and talk to them first. LEO's are often amazingly ill-informed about these matters. The first thing you will need to find out is what CLEO in your area is willing to sign off on Form 4's, and a local dealer will know. If you go to the wrong person, your forms could sit on his desk for months.

Alabama has a very active Class3 community at the Bham FOP range, Central AL gun club in montgomery, and in northern AL. You might consider attending a subgun shoot and getting the perspective of various owners.

Good luck.

Pardon my inserection of personal thoughts on this one.... HELL YES! You can buy a full auto (but depending on which socialist or free state in which you reside)! Geez, I'd almost had a heart attack in Idaho. I walked into a store... class 3 dealer.. and just about jezzed my pants. My drool factor was a 13 on a scale of 1 to 10! The only bad thing is that I didn't have the 750 to 10,000 dollars to lay down and then the 200 for the paperwork on top of that. They (guberment) has effectively stopped sales of full auto's to us poor peasants but have allowed the elites to afford them. Heads up for others who don't think that the '34 and '68 bills will not be modified to include "other" "evil" guns. Too all here.. if you can afford.. even if it's an old UZI or Ingram.. GET THEM NOW!

I don't consider myself to be one of the "elite" but I own an Uzi.
