Aaaaaahhh!!!

One of my favorite firearms has suddenly stopped functioning!

It is an old Mossberg 500 that I have had for 4 years. There has never been any problem with it at any time. But now it wont feed shells from the magazine tube and every once in a while, it drops them out the bottom of the gun! In examining the mechanism, I see no parts out of place, missing, worn, or bent. This really suqs, because there are no gunsmiths anywhere near me except some SASS people who wouldn't touch a modern-type firearm if their life depended on it.

This is impossible. If you buy the right magic sword, it will always work.

I'm glad it happened when you did not need it. How about axing your friendly FFL if any area po-pos carry the Mossberg and see if they have an armourer available? Or you could call Mossberg for the name and address of an armourer?

Remember, once you find the weapon you like, you should have 4 of that weapon. Live and learn.

Every thing eventually breaks. Sounds to me like the shell stops (thingee that holds shells in the tube) is broken or worn out.

Why don't you send it back to Mossberg?

Thank goodness it didn't happen when the SHTF!

SHIN - there is a VERY GOOD gunsmith on route 1 just north of where I used to live in Hanover County. He does a lot of ARs and 1911s for racers - but also does a lot of work for Hanover County. He is AWESOME. The BEST smith in Virginia in my opinion. And he is very honest and fair on the pricing. The boys at Green Top will know who I am talking about.

Your Mossy will be better than ever once that guy has imbued it with spells of ruin.

Shin,
The same thing happened to me w/ my Mossy 500. It started happening after only 50 rounds. I got rid of it and got an 870.

It very well could be. He's between Green Top and Ashland on Route 1.

Green Top... I miss that shop. (and the BBQ you could get right outside of it)
