Primers?
I am needing small pistol primers and not having much luck. Only one gunshop anywhere nearby can get them in stock and he seems to be price gouging on them. He is limiting people to 500 max and you have to buy something else from him at the same time (he is high on bullets as well). He is charging 25$ per 500. Last time I bought any at a gun show they were 1000 for like 27$. What prices are you guys seeing locally?
A buddy of mine is in need of some to so we figgured if we bought 3k or more online it would still be cheaper with the hazmat fee then buying from him. Problem is I cant find any instock online anywhere. Does anyone know where there are some? Why are the supplies so limited? This is insane |

Around here it's $30 per 1000 when you can find them.
Supplies are starting to come back. If you and your buddies really want to get an order in, you probably just have to order from someone listing "Backordered" and then wait. |

I paid $ 35 per 1,000 a few months ago - and had no trouble getting 5,000 small pistol and 5,000 large pistol / which only gives me 100 boxes of 9mm and .40 / and 100 boxes of .45 acp which I'll shoot in about 8 months - so its a reasonable amount to have on hand.
My suggestion is you try and work something out with the owner of a local shop that knows you'll be a long term and loyal customer. I try to order most of my guns from him or thru his shop / and in turn, I need his help to make sure I have the components I need. I would hope he would help you out. |

In central KS they are around for around $30+/- and supply is getting better. If I wanted 5,000 I could easily find them.

The only cure for a store like that is to NOT buy from them-ever. I would tell him to his face that I hope he can make enough to retire soon because later
he will have no customers. Make some calls and when you find some primers just have them hold them for you-then go pick them up |

First off a gun store that would pull that kind of stuff would be black balled by me. This price gouging is ridiculous. There are 3 Gun shops close to me, that I do not deal with and none of them have pulled anything close to what you say they are pulling. I would go mail order or take an old fashion road trip. My Brothers and I either put in a large order on line. Or if need be share on the gas and hit the road..

$40 per 1k small pistol primers (nephew bought small pistol instead of large pistol at a gun show here in Kansas City. If you are in the KC area, drop me a line if you are interested. I have one box of 1K left).

Same problems everywhere it seems. I even considered doing the overpriced gunbroker thing until I got real lucky the other day and caught one of my stores the same day as thier delivery--and it just-so happened they had a LOAD of primers onboard. Large-rifle going 47.50 per 1K. Those are the days I'm glad I have plenty of room on my visa card...

I have been lucky enough that the local gun shops in my area are getting small quanities of primers enough to keep me supplied. I have placed back orders for primers with http://www.Grafs.com. CCI 500 small pistol primers are $109.00 per case (5000), $22.50 Hazmat and a $4.50 handling fee, but no shipping charge. Comes out to $27.20 for a box (1000). It's the Hazmat fee that bumps up the cost. The more you order, the better. They only sell by the case (5000). They ship first come first serve as they get them. Grafs and Sons actually gave me a call to let me know they received Magtech primers as an option until received my original order. I bought the Magtech (they work fine) and I still have the CCI 500's on back order. It's worth placing a back order as they may come in sooner than you think. Not all companies will take back orders for out of stock items. Other companies you can try are http://www.cabelas.com, http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com, https://www.rrarms.com, http://www.gamaliel.com, just to name a few. After price checking, I found that Grafs.com was least expensive as they don't charge shipping. Good luck, Citywaterman

Gouging
I've had to hit gun shows and showing up way early to get front of line for picks at what few boxes are present. Everywhere I find them people are charging far higher than they were, but that's supply and demand.
Honestly I think these guys could really gouge and go further. I appreciate that they would still keep it close to reasonable. I've been offered $80 for 1,000 small rifle primers and probably could have negotiated higher if I was selling. But honestly It's worth more than that to me as scarce as things are. Either I pay the $45 or I can buy factory ammo losing $'s and quality. Something is worth exactly what the purchaser will pay for it. |
