Question for 7.5 Swiss reloaders

Have any of you 7.5 Swiss reloaders ever used "pulled" .308 milsurp bullets?

In my never-ending quest to get the cost of plinking rounds down, I want to try it. I made up a dummy round, with a commercial (Speer) 147gr. FMJ, which is supposed to be milsurp spec. To get the round to chamber without touching the lands, I had to seat it a little PAST the cannelure. I assume that's no problem....the case mouth is still fully supported by the bullet, and I load light enough that I don't think case volume will be a problem

I guess I'm just wondering if I'm the first person to try this.

The load I'm shooting for (pardon the pun) is:

-"Pulled" 147gr. .308 NATO bullet
-Over 43gr. H335 (a load that works great with 150gr. hunting bullets)
-Speer 250 primer
-COAL of 2.905

I've used the same load with 150gr. Sierra Gameking bullets with fine results. So only the bullet will be changed.

Comments/cautions welcome.

Have used pulled bullets in .308 and 8mm with mixed results. Deep seating should be no problem as long as the bullet is tight in case. I found a 7.5x55 Lee factory crimp die and when applied to my reduced loads , groups shrank to less than an inch at 100 yards. I use 18.6 Blue Dot behind a 110gr Speer.
Velocities run around 2000+ fps. Some question using this powder in a rifle but I have shot around a thousand in various 7.5x55 and 8mm and .308. I have had no flattened primers,hangfires or other pressure signs.

A groundhog the wife shot at 70yds with this load, turned into a soup bag. Very light recoil and economical. Accuracy is outstanding.

I have never had any luck at all getting those 147's to shoot worth a darn in anything. They work okay but they are made for machine guns and I'm sure they are just right for that. Keeping them on a pie tin at 50yds will work but if you want that k31 to shoot accurately, stick with some Hornady 165's or some Sierra Match or Game Kings.

I've had better luck than hodaka with surplus bullets. I got a bunch of 147gr military bullets. I don't know if they were pulled or just surplus, I don't see marks on them. I'm getting about 4" groups at 100 yards with them. Not as good as Sierra Match bullets, but ok for plinking.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I'd be happy with accuracy like that. Before I drop $30 on 500 of these things, I'll run a few groups with the Speers I have on hand, and see what kind of groups I get with those.

last time out with my K-31.bullet was the 150 gr pulled from 30-06 milsurp.hitech iirc.the k-31 just has a short throat I made up a dummy round and just smoked the tip and adjust the oal until the bullet was just of the rifling.

Not bad for a 25yd target.

BTW that is exactly the load that I have found that works best for mine. I use 150 Sierra's and 155 Noslers though.
