I came here to post about MY new P250 Subcompact, but someone beat me to it, sort of. I got the 9mm. But here is what I was going to post. By the way, so far I love it!

I have been carrying my Para Ordnance LTC .45 Auto during the cold months, but now that it is beginning to warm up and I don't need a jacket, it is harder to conceal. I have an LCP, but working night security, I wanted a little better performance than a .380 ACP. So I went shopping for a more practical CCW. I had it down to 2 guns. Either a Taurus PT-709 Slim or a Sig Sauer P250 Subcompact 9mm. After doing a little research I opted for the Sig. I liked the size and feel and the option to change calibers and frame sizes. It is DAO, but it is smooth and very light. I chose this for the simple functionality and reasonable safety of a DAO without having to worry about a manual safety in the heat of things. I can carry it in a myltitude of ways, including in my pocket. It has a Nitron finish, which will be good to have during the humid summer months in Alabama, and Sig Lite night sights for those low light encounters. But the other reason I chose it was the ability to change calibers and frame sizes. When I go hiking, I plan on changing to a full size .45 Auto. So I just remove the inner frame, drop it in the full size grip, add the new barrel and slide and BAM!!! Ready to go. I know this pistol has recieved mixed receptions, but for me it fits exactly what I need. I will post a range report tomorrow after returning from the range.

As someone said earlier, the trigger is not for everyone. I purchased my 9mm p250 compact because of the trigger. I am now looking at purchasing a second p250 in 45 acp.

Alright, my question for you guys is...

Why get a 250 when you can, for the same money, get a 2022? The 2022, generally speaking, has a better reputation (I note that they're roughly the same money where I live, that being less than $500 - may be different where you live).

I wanted the DAO trigger of the p250. It was the selling point for me.

The trigger feels like it's a mile long and the reset is really long too. It's smooth and fairly light though. I think it's better than some DAO triggers that I've felt (that's not saying much though) I'd rather have the 2022 myself. The concept of the 250 is a good one but the high cost of the other size frames and the caliber conversions ruins that idea. They also need to make a compact that is actually compact. Their compact is huge for something called compact. Maybe they should do a subcompact or something.

They do make a subcompact, and it's pretty small. The compact model is fairly large to be call compact though.

This is not just a range gun for me - it is my carry gun. I want the same trigger pull each time. I do not want to have to remember to use the decocking lever / safety when reholstering. There are a number of good SA pistols on the market. There are a lot of good DA/SA pistols on the market. There are very few good DAO pistols available. IMHO, the p250 is the best example of exactly what I want in a carry piece. Unless a person understands the benefits of a long and smooth DAO trigger he/she should stay away from the p250.

Another 100+ rounds of Federal Tactical 147 grain down the tube with zero malfunctions. This baby is reliable, accurate, easy to clean, well, it's a Sig! A fantastic little hangun!

For those of you looking for a caliber x-change kit there is one on Gunbroker. It includes the grip module as well and is currently at $375.00. These are pretty difficult to find but you better hurry as the auction ends very soon.

I handled one. Seemed clunky and top heavy with a high bore axis to me. Not for me, I passed.

The PS2022 comes in DAO /Note the missing decocker in the channel. best of both worlds.

I did not realize that the SIG Pro came in DAO. Went to SIG website and looked at "specificiation" tab for sp2022 and DAO is not listed but is shown on "description" tab. Do you know what weight the DAO trigger pull is on a SIG Pro?

Really don't know the # of the pull but it is very smooth. Call SIG for the # answer.

If you have a DA/SA 2022 all you have to do is find a DAO fire control unit to replace the modular DA/SA fire control unit and make it DAO.

SIG Pro felt like ass in my hands...P250 felt awesome plus the P250 came in .45ACP (which I bought) and the SIG Pro does not.

The smoothness of the 250's trigger has put all my handguns to shame including a Glock with a trigger job.

Hi i am new to this but i saw that most of the people on here have great tips or info on guns so i thought i would give it a shot. I just bought the Sig p250. I love the gun but because it is so new i am having trouble finding a duty holster for it, I am in private security and need a good duty holster. My sig has the 3.9" barrel, i found a holster that says it will fit a 3.88" bbl. can someone tell me how big of a difference that is or if it would fit or not. Thanks

I carried the M1911 for a few years while in the service to include combat. I have nothing negative to say about the M1911.

In my personal opininion, the current popularity of the M1911 and other copy cats is rather amusing. This is not saying the original and many of the copy cats are not quality pistols.

Given a choice between a M1911 and my Full Size P250 .45, I would take the P250. Will the P250 stand the test of time as has the M1911? I doubt it, and this statement is not putting down the P250.

In my view, it is hard to compare the two other than they both fire the .45 ACP. The M1911 is the rugged dinasaur whereas the P250 is a marvel of new technology.

Why did the M1911 have such a long life as a service weapon? Was it because it was the best possible pistol or was it one of the lower prioritites of the Services -- to replace the service pistol? I think both to some degree but the lower priority on the pistol and the logisitics nightmare of total field replacement throught the services playing a significant role in the longevity of the M1911.

There are many out there who think it is a blasphemy to compare the M-9 or any other modern era pistol to the M1911.

I do remember myself and many other military personnel wanting a new service pistol to replace the M1911 years prior to the adoption of the M-9. I left the military prior to the adoption of the M-9, but I have my own Personal Beretta 92FS, and I also like it better than the M1911.

the next question is whether the 9mm or the .45ACp is the better round for the services. I guess there could be a compromise since the P250 can adapt to both rounds.

3.88" and 3.9 is the same thing...the one thing you have to worry about is the accessory rail.

"old" frame P250's utilize a rounded rail and the "new" style frame use a flat M1913 Picatinny rail which will NOT fit in holsters made for the rounded type rail.

I hear what ya saying...some accessories are hard to find...I want to use my P250 for duty as well but until more options become available I stick to my M&P.

I currently carry a Delta Elite Colt 1911 10mm. Great Gun but compared to what is out there and the things i have a chance of coming up against it just does not have the mag capacity i want. not including that i can hardly afford the ammo for it. The 250 is probably the smoothest DOA iv ever shot. The description of the holster did not say anything about the different style rails. The holster i am looking at is the Safariland 6285 i believe, its only one of two duty holsters i have found that holds the 250.
