Hello from NZ

Hi there,
I just put a ruger 10/22 carbine on laybuy (will have it paid in 3 weeks)
I plan to put a 4x32 scope (Tasco world class), sling and bipod on it.

I also have a LED Lenser P7 that will be mounted to the scope.

I plan to use it for bunnies and possums.

BTW I am from New Zealand.

Congrats, and welcome to the forum!

The 10/22 is an excellent little rifle. I own a Marlin model 60 with a little Tasco scope as well(like a 10/22, but with a tube magazine) and I love it to death. Let us know what you think of it when you get it. Cheers!

I own 10-22s as well. I haven't scoped them yet, but will with the Nikon rimfire scopes when the time comes.

Hi there, thanks for the welcome, I am from Canterbury but do a lot of hunting round Wanganui.
All Blacks.. well I think I can say I am the only 38 year old NZ male who has not watched a game of rugby with the all blacks.
When we won the world cup I was in the garage, rebuilding a heater for my ford anglia!

I cant wait for the 10/22, my other .22 is a Brno b/a with a supressor and laser.
(I know its all a bit tacticool but its what I have got).

Also run some other rifles too. mainly shoot deer (red, fallow and sambar), ducks and geese and rabbits

Nice choice. My buddy has a 10/22 with cheapie 4x scope on it that kicks butt. He put a bull barrel on it and he can routinely out shoot me against clay pigeon targets at 70 yards.

I've seen him hit chipmunks as well from 40, so.... Your rabbits are very doable.

Hello NZ. I am glad to hear you folks in NZ can still own firearms. I thought most of once was part of the British Empire had pretty much put a ban on that practice.

We can own pretty much any time of firearm, you just need the appropriate type of licence.

I'm from the Waikato but am in Christchurch studying, this year.
Seems to be a few kiwis on here.

Possum shooting has got to be the best type of shooting/hunting to be had in NZ, sure you will have a lot of fun.

I just pluck the fur.. up to $100/kg at the moment

As for cookin em..
Get a stone, put it in the pot, add carrots, onions, salt and pepper, etc. Add a possum and some water.. Simmer.

When you can put your fork into the stone, eat it and throw the possum away!

Sounds good mate.
I've only been in chch for a week and sadly had to leave my guns at home.

That possum recipe is much the same a a Pukeko recipe apart from a brick instead of stone.
