Whitetail load for the .41 mag
Hello All,
I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I just added a model 657 .41 mag to my wheelgun stable. I will be trying to work up a good whitetail load and would like some opinions on a bullet to start with. I really like to shoot H110 powder in my .44 loads and will start with the same in the .41. Would like to hear your opinions on bullets. Interesting note: I went to the gunshop with the intention of buying a .460 S&W. Came home with the .41 mag instead. I'm tickled to death with it, although I have not shot it. I guess my desire for a .41 mag from 20 years ago never quite went away. Something about the gun just felt really good in my hand. |

Might as well stay with 210 grain jacketed bullets for deer loads. H-110 is as good a powder choice as any. You are unlikely to get good results in full house loads with plain base cast. Gas checked cast will work fine, but both the moulds and the checks are in short supply these days.

You just possibly bought one of the best guns in existence.
Thank God they're still being made. The best combo I've found is H110 + CCI 350 primer+ hornady XTP-HP 210 grain bullet. This is an excellent general purpose bullet with excellent accuracy, good properties for hunting, and it's tough enough for rifles or to load in an exotic caliber like 410 GNR. Enjoy, and welcome to TFL.
