Dry Tumbler Media

I just went to polish some shells and noticed that my Media (Corncob Green by Lyman) was pretty dry. Any suggestions to get me going tonight? Maybe a household remedy.

I read everything there, now my brain hurts but couldn't find any tips. If anyone has something, it would be appreciated.

takes longer wears out faster but it works. It will get dusty after a bit.

I buy walnut from the pet store and add a couple of tablespoons of Nu-finish car polish. Works great

All I ever use to clean brass is ground corn cob and some Dillon Rapid Polish. My cases come out brilliant and bright inside and out. Corn cob works the best and it's also the cheapest of most all media. When it gets dirty I simply toss it. Bill T.

Try some Brasso. It should be available in the household section of your grocery store. 1-2 TBS, add to media, tumble for 15 min. to distribute and add brass.

"Brasso" is NOT a good idea. The reason is it contains Ammonia which can, and in fact will, weaken brass over time. Stick with a non Ammonia type of polish that was intended to be used to clean cartridge brass. As I said Dillon make a very good one that is inexpensive. Leave the household products under the sink. There are ammonia-free metal polishes, add some to your old media - it'll work fine.

Maybe some car polish and some rubbing alcohol? I've have used Frankfort Arsenals and Lyman's brass polish with similar results. Nu-Finish will be my next test.
