I have a rough rider. Hate it. Worst gun I've ever bought. Only gun I wish I hadn't. Reliably goes bang, but God only knows where the bullet ends up after that.
If you do buy one, get the adjustable sights (mine has very lopsided irons) and avoid the 3.5" barrel length as the front sight post is generally too short to zero the gun properly.

I would suggest skip the .22 Mag. In a handgun it does not offer any advantage over .22 lr that is is noticeable. I would get a used Ruger MKII or MKIII, and later get a rifle in .22 Mag.
Aside from performance, price is a big factor. .22 Mag cost way more to shoot. Oh I had a RR it did what it was designed to do without any problems. I gifted it to my nephew. He still shoots it, and it still works just fine.

I hear ya cajun, I will definitely be looking at the used stuff before I go new. And let me know if you ever want your money back for that pretty little ruger there. Rifleman- I agree to an extent about that being an oxymoron but even though a poor man likes a colt just as much as a rich man that doesnt mean the poor man can have a safe full of em. Im trying to find the best product within a certain price range. I know what the best is, but Im for sure not gonna beat around through the woods with it or take it fishing.

I've been in a financial position where I couldn't necessarly afford to buy "the best" so I had to settle for the "the best" I could afford. I wanted a Browning A5 when I was a youngster. I had to settle for a Sears/Roebuck 12 ga pump. It was a lot "cheaper" than the A5, but still dropped many a whitetail. Quote:
