.222 case Stuck in a RCBS F/L die---Help-

I've never had this happen before. I had the shellholder rip both sides off
the rim of a Remington .222 case and it's stuck firmly in the RCBS F/L die.
Any suggestions as how to get it out would be Greatly appreciated.

Get an RCBS stuck-case remover.

Next time make sure you lube the lower portion of each case.

There's lot's of tips in this thread. You can make your own stuck case puller if you've got the parts handy.

The stuck case remover is nice as a kit, but you can get these:

13/64" drill bit to drill out flash hole

1/4" Tap to tap the inside of the flash hole

1/2" Socket (1/4" drive) goes up against die and allows stuck case to be pulled into it

1/4" x 1 1/2" Washer on top of socket (keeps bolt from gouging the top of the socket)

1/4" x 1" Machine bolt goes into threaded flash hole and is turned to pull case out
If you need extra insurance, get the setup ready, leave the die in the feezer over night, then pull.

Shoney has it down good, but i thread the die into the press from the bottom.
then do your drilling, tap, and with a couple of washers on the top of press you can draw the stuck case out with the 1/4 20 bolt.

Stuck case..........

Call RCBS, and they will tell you to send it to them, along with $5 and they will remove the case and send it back to you in about 2 weeks. Cheap and easy and a good learning moment!!!

.222 stuck case---

Hey Brothers---You guys come through EVERY TIME, that's what I Love
about this board.
I told a friend of mine that I was loading the shells for---I posted on a
firearms/reloading board about the problem I ran into loading the .222 ammo.
He said that sounds serious---I said---Trust Me when I get home this evening
I'll probably have a Whole list of posters/friends that are standing in line with tips and advice about this problem and BAM !!!
Looking back with the 20/20 hind sight, what caused this problem was
#1 ---I bought an old set of dies off e-bay that hadn't been used for years
#2 ---I used some old lubricant that was probably 25-30 years old that was
a gift.
# 3---I had to totally full length resize the cases that were fired in his old
Savage 340 -.222 rifle to get them to chamber without resistance.

You guys are like a Miracle and I can't say THANKS enough.
BLESS EVERY ONE OF YOU.
