I'd like to see more on this. Do all four barrels fire independently? The biggest problem I see with something like this catching on is that your bird guns are supposed to be limited to three rounds. Unless they make a plug that locks off one barrel, it would be strictly a home defense gun.

I see only one trigger, interior lockwork must be rather complez.

Is it a 10 ga? Can't read the numbers on the shells.

Bet it doesn't kick much, I wonder if it was a wall gun for an early prison.....

These guns are correctly called "vierlings" based on the German word for four. European gunmakers have made them in a variety of combinations of rifle and shotgun calibers. As Dave noted the triggers are often very complex mechanisms but that's pretty common among German makers. Must be the German watchmaking background that makes them so.

Check out the summer issue of Double Gun Journal (sorry no website), they have an article on the firm of Abbitaccio and Salvinelli, sold in the US under the FABARM name. They have a model called the "ROMBO" that is a 4 barrel in 410 bore. Apparently the guns were made in a limited run of 15 in 410 and 28 GA. ($$$$!)

Their website is www.fabarm.com but they do not list the "Rombo" on the site.

The gun is one amazing piece of work, with the barrels arrayed with one on top, two in the middle and one on the bottom!

The Italians call these guns "Quattro Canne" (Four Barrel)

As I understand if from a Swiss gunsmith that vierling would be any gun with four barrels regardless of configuration although most, if not all, of them are two shotgun and two rifle barrels. Drillings (based on the German word for three) are usually two shotgun tubes and one rifle but I've seen at least one that was two 12 gauge on top and a .410 on the bottom. That's the beauty of custom-made guns if you have enough money you can get whatever you want regardless if it makes any sense.

Two shotgun tubes and one rifle tube. Now that holds my interest. I am thinking two 12 ga tubes with 3½" chambers with a 300 Win Mag tube up top.

The Vierlings that I've read about usually have 2 barrels chambered for a shotgun gauge (usually 20), one barrel chambered for a big-game centrefire cartridge, and one barrel chambered for a small-game/varmint cartridge (22 LR or Hornet). If you've got any more info on the monster at the top of the page, I'd be interested in learning more about it. German? Spanish?

That monster at the top looks like the mother of all "Coach" guns.

Interesting hammer arrangement with two striking surfaces on each hammer. wonder if they both fire at once or you have to set whichever barrel you want to shoot?

Doubling a 12 GA is no fun

If you guys are interested take a look at the Krieghoff site, they have an interesting variety of drillings in a variety of calibers and configurations.

www.krieghoff.de

Click on the Hunting button.

Here's another link to an Austrian gunmaker, scroll down to the bottonm for Drillings. ( do not look at the prices)

http://www.gunshop.com/fanzoj.htm

Apparently drillings and other multi barrel guns are all the rage in Germany and neighboring countries for hunters.

i just stumbled across the picture and thought ya would get a "kick" out of it...

i kinda think from the hammers, that if you cocked both hammers, one pull of the trigger would unleash 4 dogs of war

with a chamber selector you would have to re cock for each sides second shot

wheres the fun in that?

here are the "standard" multi barrel arrangements
