Replacement Barrels for Military surplus
Hello gentlemen,
I was wondering if anyone here knew of places to buy parts for surplus rifles? I have a wonderful 6.5x55 swede. But who ever had it before me cut the barrel to 18 1/2". I v never been a fan of short barrels. I m losing more performance in my opinion. Robbing of FPS and less time on lands and groves just means less time to stabilize before exiting the barrel. (these could be argued until blue in the face) If anyone knows of places to get new or surplus parts. That would be a big help! Hope all shoot striate and true.(i sure don't)

At one time Samco Global Arms in Miami had new surplus barrels for Swedish Mausers.

Lothar Walther makes new barrels with the military stepped contour. http://www.lothar-walther.de/html/275.php
They must be installed by a qualified gunsmith. Clemson

Found a barreled action, maybe if you call them they can give you a price on just the barrels...http://www.samcoglobal.com/sm96.html This would save the cost of having a smith fit the barrel.

Installing a used barrel is no guarantee of correct headspace or even barrel timing. Use a gunsmith no matter where the barrel comes from. He/she will remove the old barrel using a proper barrel vise and action wrench, install the new barrel, time the sights to TDC, and ream or trim to correct headspace.
