BLC-2 Nice! What took me so long
I've been loading .222 Rem for years, and for some reason had never tried BLC untill a few weeks back. Very nice.
My rifle is a 700 ADL, and is one of those that shoots most everything pretty well, so I wasn't so much suprised by the accuracy as I was by the fact that I've never crossed paths with this powder witch seems perfect for this little cartridge. It goes through the measure beautifully, fills the case right up into the neck with a little room for more if I want to, and shows no excessive pressure signs with the load I used. ( 26.0 gr. BLC-2, 36 gr. Varmint Grenade, CCI 450, and Winchester cases.) I worked up from 22 grns. and accuracy got better as I went higher. Have since used a few other bullets up to 50 gr. with good results. The 26 gr. load isn't max in any of my books, but I see no reason to go harder on my cases. Give this stuff a try if ya haven't yet.

"What took me so long "
Probably the fact that it is an "old" powder?? Around here, OLD is GOOD! |

I have heard it said many times that BLC(2) is the same as WC846, given lot to lot varience.

It's my go-to powder for the .204 Ruger and .223, measures easily and I really like the smell of it

I had the opportunity to use some hoarded BLC original in the 222 back in the 60s. We went to the "2" version when it finally ran out. IIRC the tally for 2 years whistlepig hunting was 37 one shot kills from spitting distance to almost 400 yards in my neighbors walnut stocked M788. That was with 22.0 and a Hornady 60 grain seated out to touch the lands. We could put 5 shots into a quarter at 200 yards if the wind was calm. The new stuff is just as good as the original. WW 846 and 844 are both good substitutes if you like milsurp. My current M700 just loves the 52 grain Speer original HP with the cavernous hole and 24.0 grains. They shoot into a dime with all 6 shots at 100. Very nice whap power on old Noir too. I match prep my brass and use RP 7 1/2 primers.
