Rock Island Armory 1911 9mm followed me home...

Went to the gun show this weekend and ended up coming home with a RIA 1911 in 9mm. I am a big fan of the 1911 platform and Rock Island as their prices can't be beat. I have the 45ACP model and it runs flawlessly. I have been wanting to try one in 9mm and for $430 I said what the heck. It is the bare bones basic model, no beaver tail or combat hammer. I have exactly 10 rounds of 9mm in my stock so it may be a bit before I can get to the range.

Congrats! I would probably pick one up if I happened upon it as well.

The beavertail and hammer can be added easily enough. Throw some Wilson parts on there and some nice grips and that thing will be gorgeous.

RIA's are pretty good. My only complaint with them are the huge billboard on the slide.

Very nice, let us know how it shoots. I was planning on getting a Citidel 1911-45 which is made by Rock Island Armory. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...tte-black.html A few months ago they were on sale for $449.00 but i coudnt buy one because I was purchasing parts for a AR build. good luck with it.

I have the tactical model and it shoots well. I have about 1500 round through it. I use stainless metalform mags 9fr794 and they work great.

Not a fan of the finish but it was inexpensive. Some day I will have it duracoated, or I will get a stainless one to replace it.

I've been thinking pretty hard about getting an RIA 9mm 1911.

That billboard on the slide is really obnoxious.

$30 more than an LC9, but all metal!

The billboard on the side doesn't bother me all that much. I bought this as a shooter and it will get shot.....lots. This one won't be a safe queen or show piece that's for sure! Now if I can find some damn ammo, I didn't want to pay the $24 per box they were asking at the gun show.

Picked up a used one this weekend. Slight holster wear. It is like yours with the older GI looks, shorter sights, different hammer. Shot it and it shoots great. No problems at all.

I already had one but my daughter has been shooting my other RIA 1911 9mm so I picked the new (used) one up for her.

Here is the my older one along with the RIA compact 45. Personally I like the stand out roll marks.

Rabbitt, I really like that compact. I have one of those on my short list as well. On a good note I found some ammo today so I should be able to get out to the range this week and test her out.
