Red Dot Sight question...

I recently purchased my first red dot sight which is an Aimpoint ML. I've noticed while looking through the sight when I move it off center to the left or right (still being able to see the red dot) I get what appears to be a red reflection over about half the sight. It doesn't affect target acquisition, just something I've notice and now I can't help but notice all the time. I think the amount of lighting has something to do with it, but I'm not 100% sure. Is this normal or is there something wrong with mine? Thank you.

does it seem to be affected by the brightness of the dot?

ive noticed something similar with my ML3...

if i have the dot brighter than whats need i get a ring and sometimes a glare.

also at times, even with the optic off i get something like what you describe.buts its when another light souce is hitting the lens...im pretty sure that has something to do with the lens coating.
