delayed on first handgun purchase
i got delayed on my first hangun purchase, i have gotten my rifles when i was 21 with no issues. instant approval. but yesterday i got delayed on the NICS BG check. i know the law is 3 days and they can release. if they dont hear back from NICS. should i wait to see if it comes back declined? i would hate to pick it up only to get denied and have to return or sell and possibly have the ATF kicking my door down looking for the handgun. any advise?

Until I got my CPL I was delayed on every purchase. 99% of the time I would get a call the next day saying I was able to proceed. Don't sweat it. The system isn't perfect. If you've bought rifles in the past, and haven't done anything in between to make yourself a prohibited person, you'll be fine.

I've been put on hold for at least 3 days for every firearm purchase I've ever made. It doesn't matter what type of firearm if it's a single shot rifle or high capacity semi auto rifle. Don't worry about it you'll be fine.

Don't feel bad. No record. Always delay. But, always approve.

There are some who are always are denied...I think you can appeal and have them assign a number to you exclusively.
