Have mod 97 with a loose barrel. Have adjusted adjusting sleeve to last tooth and the barrel is still loose. Need suggestions.

The barrel adjusting sleeve can be rotated to pick up the teeth again on the other side. Moving to the last tooth doesn't always tighten the slack. Go back the other way and check the fit. Also it may be the looseness can be corrected by the action screw on the reciever. More detail is needed. In rare cases we cut an additional few teeth. But you should NOT DO That! If you can't make normal adjustments take up the slack, take it to a smith who Regularly works on '97s. If you need to, you can send it to our shop. Do not damage your adjusting sleeve, that part is impossible to get right now. Much better to spend a little bit on a professional adjustment if you can't get it worked out.
