Winchester 62A

Came across a Winchester 62A, about 75-80% with serial #251XXX. I have found on GunsAmerica prices from $400 to $2600+. Anybody got an idea of what its worth? The guy has been talking $250 but he is a neighbor, I'm supposed to be the neighbohood gun guy so I don't want to screw him out of a valuable gun if it is.

Thanks for any help.

TMC, the Winchester Model 62A you've described was made in 1948. The latest Blue Book would list the value at around $325-$350 for a Model 62A in 75%-80% condition. Hope this helps!
