200 grains at 800 fps.
I have heard that Mr. Browning designed his 45 ACP for a 200 grain bullet at 800 fps. Does anyone know if this is true or not and if so would working up such a load yield greater accuracy?
Thanks, Bill Daniel Life Member NRA

That would be correct.
They wanted to duplicate the ballistics of the .45 LC in a shorter case. The Gov't then decided it needed a heavier bullet and insisted on a 230 at 800 FPS.
I see no advantage to a 200 gr. at exactly 800 FPS, although there are some really accurate loads in that velocity range. I have a 1200 FPS 185 gr. handload that is a tackdriver, and hits pretty hard as well.

ME TOO ME TOO
I have a 230g GS offering at 970fps; it can be real accurate from some platforms; my gun fires the same bullet at 780fps for "Bullseye"--type accuracy.
All guns are always different.
